Cape Town - A Port Elizabeth man was arrested after perlemoen (abalone) was found in his fridge, Eastern Cape police said on Wednesday.

Police officers visited the 41-year-old's home in Blommelaan Avenue, Greenbushes, following a tip-off, said Warrant Officer Alwin Labans.

They found four bags of fresh perlemoen with an estimated value of R24 000.

He would appear for illegal possession of perlemoen in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Thursday. - Sapa
