ECape man arrested with perlemoen

Johanensburg - Grahamstown police have arrested a man for possession of 36kg of perlemoen with an estimated street value of over R16 000.

The 57-year-old man was arrested in a roadblock on the N2 by members of the Grahamstown highway patrol at 5pm on Tuesday, Captain Mali Govender said on Wednesday.

Police searched his green convertible Mazda MXB, and found 36.4kg of perlemoen in cooler boxes stashed among bags of clothes and vegetables, she said.

The confiscated perlemoen had an estimated street value of R450 a kilogram. The man would appear soon in the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court.
