King William’s Town - A 31-year-old man appeared in the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.
In a statement, police spokesperson Jackson Manatha said the Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit arrested the man on Monday.
Manatha said the attack allegedly happened on Sunday at about 10:15am at Msobomvu Flats in Butterworth.
The victim was with her younger sister when the suspect arrived at their home.
“The younger sister was sent to a local shop by the suspect. The suspect then threatened the victim and allegedly raped her. The mother of the victim was informed that she had been raped by the suspect”, he said.
