Eight held for speeding in Ekurhuleni

Johannesburg - Eight people were arrested for speeding on the Albertina Sisulu highway near Tembisa on Sunday, Ekurhuleni metro police department said on Sunday.

The speedsters were all clocked driving above the 120km/h speed limit, EMPD spokesman Kobeli Mokheseng said.

“A 49-year old male driving a Mercedes Benz sedan, citing that he was rushing to the O R Tambo international airport, was caught doing 190km/h,” Mokheseng said.

The other offenders were flagged for driving at a speed between 162km/h and 184km/h.

They were charged with reckless and negligent driving and are due to in the Tembisa Magistrate's Court soon.
