KwaZulu-Natal - Pietermaritzburg police are searching for a gang which attacked and robbed an elderly couple in Prestbury this week.

Police spokeswoman Lieutenant Joey Jeevan, said Donavan, 75, and Denise, 70, Slatter, were at home on Monday at about 8pm, when four men forced their way into the house through a patio door and tied them up.

The robbers allegedly stole the couple’s two vehicles: a blue 2011 Mitsubishi Subaru Forrester and a dark green 2000 Renault Scenic.

They also got away with R500 in cash, two cellphones, one computer screen and a camera.

In a separate incident, Dalton police are appealing for information about a taxi-related murder that happened in the Inadi area on October 26.

Lamulani Philani Ngxongo, 28, and his wife, Babongile, 24, were attacked in their house and shot with high-calibre automatic rifles, believed to be AK-47s.

Ngxongo, a partner in a taxi business, died. His wife is in a critical condition.
