An elderly woman was found murdered in her home in Butterworth on Tuesday morning, Eastern Cape police said.
The woman, who lived alone in Mangweni location, was found by a neighbour, said Captain Jackson Manatha.
There was an injury to her lower body and “scratches” around her neck, he said. Police suspect she may have been raped.
No arrests had been made by Tuesday afternoon.
“Butterworth police cluster commander Brigadier Mzimasi Vukani condemned the cold-blooded murder of the woman,” Manatha said. - Sapa
