Johannesburg - SABC football analyst and former Kaizer Chiefs defender Fabian McCarthy is about to lose his third house in five months to the repo man.

On April 21, his three-bedroomed Mondeor house will go under the hammer after First Rand Bank secured a notice of sale in execution in the High Court sitting in Joburg.

The auction of the 98m2 house he bought in November 2004 for R380 000 comes shortly after his two other properties were auctioned when he failed to pay Standard Bank.

The bank had financed the sectional title property in Radiokop Extension 42 in Roodepoort to the tune of R770 000 when he bought it in 2005.

McCarthy had to make monthly repayments of R8 006.55 for the 155m2 property, but he defaulted on the repayments for the seven months leading up to October 2010.

The bank took action against him but he still failed to pay, prompting the application in January 2011 for the sale in execution of the property.

In court papers, the bank states that McCarthy failed to raise a dispute against its court action and did not offer to surrender the property to them. The property was auctioned in October last year.

The other property in Willowbrook Extension 11 in Roodepoort, registered under his name, was auctioned in February.

Standard Bank had financed it for R480 000 when McCarthy bought it in May 2006.

When contacted for comment on Thursday, McCarthy said: “I’m not aware about it (the auction). I don’t wanna talk about my things in the paper… apparently my other properties were also auctioned off according to other newspapers… so I don’t wanna talk about it.”

Lawyers representing First Rand Bank declined to comment on Thursday, but documents before the High Court in Joburg indicate the auction will start from 10am in Robertsham in Joburg.

A file detailing the nature of the debt was not available in court on Thursday.
