Pretoria - A Silverton family is desperately trying to find their 18-year-old daughter who went missing after a routine dental appointment.

Ntokozo Xolisa Khumalo was last seen on Wednesday, May 4, after she went for an appointment with a dentist at Louis Pasteur Hospital in the Pretoria CBD.

Her father Whitey Khumalo said Ntokozo usually returned home around 1pm or 2pm from her appointments.

“I got home around 4.30pm and tried to call her but her phone rang unanswered and then just went straight to voicemail. I decided not to panic and rather wait for her mother to get home and then try her again,” he said.

“We both tried her and got nothing. We contacted family members to hear if they had heard from her but no one knew her whereabouts,” said Khumalo.

He said they decided to give it another day but when she didn't return home the following day they started to get worried.

The upset father said a cousin even decided to check her Facebook account and noticed that she was online.

“Her cousin logged into her Facebook account and tried to send her a message but there was no response and soon thereafter she went offline.”

As the youngster had been interested in pursuing modelling, her parents are concerned she may have run into scammers or fraudsters who convinced her to meet them.

“We were hoping that the police would have been able to at least trace her phone, as she uses one of those latest ones, but we have had no word or progress. I feel like the police are not doing enough to find my daughter.

“She isn't a rebellious teenager and has always told us when she went somewhere,” said Khumalo.

“What is important right now is for us to get our child back. We can't live like this.”

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Ntokozo is urged to contact the nearest SAPS or TMPD on the number 082 611 9971.
