Durban - “He is a loving father, a loving husband, a best friend of mine. We appeal to everyone, if you have my father or any information, we just ask that you don’t hurt him and return him to us safely.

“We really need him, much more than you do.”

This impassioned plea of Wayne Galloway, the son of the Durban businessman, Bruce Galloway, 59, who disappeared on Tuesday around 3am.

The video appeal was broadcast on YouTube yesterday on the SA Can channel (a community network organisation).

Galloway owned three Spar franchises - two in the Eastern Cape and one in Inanda.

In the video, Galloway’s wife, Les, and niece, Pippa Darras, are flanked by Wayne. Darras cries, overcome by emotion.

Galloway was on his way to Mthatha for a business meeting when he went missing.

His blue Hyundai i30 was parked at the bottom of his Kloof driveway, and his cellphone, iPad, and glasses were left behind. His wallet was emptied.

A R50 000 reward has been offered to anyone with information that could help find Galloway.

The Spar group offered R25 000 which has been matched by Galloway’s family.

On Wednesday night, Wayne said there was no new information on his father’s whereabouts.

Asked about any behavioural patterns that may have emerged before his disappearance, or on claims about his father’s business dealings, Wayne said he would not comment.

“The people that need to know that information (police and the private investigators) have been briefed,” he said.

Police spokesman, Colonel Vincent Mdunge, said tpolice were investigating a case of kidnapping.

Nico Potgieter, head of investigations at Enforce Security, said they had been tasked by Spar to work on his disappearance.

Galloway’s wife Les is the former team manager of the South African women’s hockey team. She also managed the team at the last Olympics.
