Bloemfontein - Eight farm workers were arrested after police found them in possession of suspected stolen diesel near Zamdela, Free State officials said on Thursday.

“Police were called to a farm, where farm watch security guards found three people in possession of three 20-litre drums full of diesel,” said Constable Peter Kareli.

The men were accused of stealing the diesel from the farm Skaapplaas, near Zamdela, and smuggling it off the premises on Wednesday night.

Kareli said investigations led to the discovery of five more 20-litre drums full of diesel hidden near the farm.

The workers, aged between 29 and 63, would appear in the Sasolburg Magistrate's Court soon. - Sapa
