A farmer accused of killing his wife by running her over with his bakkie appeared in the Mokopane Circuit Court on Monday, Limpopo police said.

Fanie Terblanche's trial was postponed to July 30, 2012, spokeswoman Lt-Col Ronel Otto said.

He stands accused of running over his wife of two months, Lizette Terblanche, 45, in October 2006. Terblanche also allegedly ran over her aunt, Letitia. She survived.

After his arrest and being granted bail by the High Court in Pretoria, he skipped bail and fled to Zambia. He was tracked down last year after Lizette's sister started a Facebook group called “Help us find Fanie Terblanche - he killed my sister and is on the run”.

A woman in Zambia, whose friend dated Terblanche, contacted her to tell her where he was.

In June last year, Interpol escorted Terblanche to South Africa. He was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport when he arrived. - Sapa
