Mills alerted his security company, and the men ran off. Around 20 local farmers and a police officer then began searching for them.

With the help of a helicopter, the men were seen hiding in a game reserve about 10km from the scene of the crime, and were arrested.

They were found to be in possession of a packet of cigarettes belonging to Mills, and an unlicensed firearm.

Lieutenant-Colonel Ronel Otto said the men would appear in the Groblersdal Magistrate's Court on Friday, on charges of attempted murder and robbery. - Sapa
