Johannesburg - Meekahefele Mosooa, accused of shooting dead a motorcyclist during a road rage confrontation, appeared briefly in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Friday.
The trial was postponed to June 26 for further investigation.
Mosooa, a labour consultant, is out on R5 000 bail granted during his last appearance on February 17.
Motorcyclist Douglas Pierce was shot dead during a confrontation with Mosooa along Malibongwe Drive, Northriding, in February. Both men carried firearms.
Mosooa was driving a sedan. He told the court during his bail application that he acted in self defence.
Pierce's wife, Tammy Pierce, arrived in court accompanied by a group of bikers and relatives. She received hugs and messages of support from sympathisers outside the courtroom.
The public gallery was filled as everyone waited for the trial to start.
Mosooa wore a black suit and stood in the dock while listening to proceedings. He carried a maroon filing bag with him.
