Pietermaritzburg - Five men have been arrested for allegedly hijacking and robbing a Pietermaritzburg businessman, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.

The men were arrested on Monday, Captain Thulani Zwane said.

They forced the 72-year-old man out of his car, outside his business on Boom Street, and sped off, taking an undisclosed amount of cash and cheques. Police recovered the car and R4000.

The arrested men are expected to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
