Johannesburg - Five people appeared in the Chatsworth Magistrate's Court on Monday for the murder of a woman in the town last week, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

Nusumuzi Jabulani Gumede, 30, Sibonakaliso Zaba Mbuli, 32, and three teenagers aged 17, 16 and 16 appeared. The matter was postponed to September 1 for a formal bail application, police said.

A sixth man, 18, would appear in the court on Tuesday.

The woman's decapitated body was found on Thursday, Colonel Jay Naicker said at the weekend.

Her head was found in Imfume, on the south coast, on Friday.

“On Thursday Chatsworth (police) detained six suspects... including a woman and a traditional healer,” said Naicker.

Naicker would not provide a reason why the 18-year-old was appearing separately.
