Five service vehicles torched at sports field

Rustenburg - Five vehicles including an ambulance were burnt down in Sunrise Park near Rustenburg, North West police said on Thursday.

Lieutenant colonel Amanda Funani said the cars were torched on Wednesday night.

“According to information, the vehicles were set alight at a sport ground in Extension 11, Sunrise Park after being taken individually from the drivers by a group of approximately 10 people. The motive of the incident is unknown and no one has been arrested,” Funani said.

She said Boitekong police were investigating a case of public violence, but no arrest had yet been made.

The torched cars include a bakkie belonging to the Rustenburg municipality, a mine ambulance, two bakkies and a Toyota Quantum minibus owned by security companies.
