Johannesburg – A foetus was found under a bed in a house in Douglasdale in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Saturday, following the discovery of a woman’s body at the same premises the day before, Gauteng paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bosdasing said paramedics were called out to a Douglasdale property on Saturday after a foetus was found.

“This followed another call to the same property last night [Friday night] where a woman was found unresponsive. There was nothing that could be done for her and she was declared dead.”

An autopsy would have to be conducted to determine the cause of death.

On Saturday, ER24 and the City of Johannesburg emergency medical services (EMS) and fire and rescue were on the scene.

“The foetus that was found was apparently found wrapped in a towel under a bed. There was nothing that could be done.”

SA Police Service officers were also on the scene both on Friday night and on Saturday to investigate, Bodasing said.
