Cape Town - A dumped foetus was found by refuse workers in Poortview, west of Johannesburg on Monday morning, emergency services ER24 said.

“ER24 paramedics were called to the scene after refuse workers had noticed the body of the foetus in the back of the refuse vehicle,” said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

The gruesome discovery was made while the workers were collecting waste on Stallion Street in Poortview.

“On arrival, paramedics found the foetus inside the rear of the refuse vehicle,” said Meiring.

Unfortunately, the foetus was already dead when found by the workers.

“Local authorities were on scene for further investigations,” said Meiring.
