Cape Town - A human foetus was found in a bag next to a dustbin at Dunoon on Sunday night.

Police, called by a local resident, have opened a concealment of birth investigation, said spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut.

Traut said the foetus was believed to be between the fourth and fifth month of development.

“I can confirm that a foetus was found next to Bhekela informal settlement in Dunoon on Sunday at 6.58pm,” Traut said.

“The foetus was found in a bag next to a dustbin.

“The mother of the child is unknown at this stage and a case of concealment of birth is being investigated,” he said.
