Rustenburg - A 36-year-old Bangladeshi national accused of raping two underage girls will appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court this week, North West police said on Monday.

Captain Paul Ramaloko said the man allegedly raped the two girls, aged eight and nine, on July 8 at his shop after they bought sweets from him.

“According to reports, the suspect took an eight-year-old minor to his room where he allegedly raped her and afterwards took the nine-year-old minor and also raped her,” Ramaloko said.

The girls reported the matter to their mother who informed the police about it. The man was arrested and charged with two counts of rape.

“He has already made his first court appearance on Friday [ July 10] and was remanded in custody. Investigations into the matter continues,” said Ramaloko.

The suspect was expected to appear in court again this Friday.
