Cape Town – Two foreign nationals have been arrested in Bellville, Cape Town, for alleged possession of drugs and stolen property, Western Cape police said on Friday.

“Two foreign nationals were arrested on Thursday… in Bellville, after a successful intelligence-driven operation by Brackenfell Crime Intelligence, Maitland dog unit, and other specialised units,” spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said in a statement.

Information gathered led to the identification of a house in Groenvallei, Bellville, where it was alleged the premises were used to sell narcotics and as a drop-off point for stolen goods, he said.

SA Police Service officers went to the house at about 9.30pm on Thursday.

“Two foreign nationals, a 38-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man were arrested for [alleged] possession of drugs, dealing in drugs, and possession of suspected stolen goods.

“The following was confiscated - an undisclosed amount of tik, cash and foreign currency… an electronic scale, [a] large amount of small zip-lock bags, televisions, gas heater, various tools, and (a) jig-saw.”

The pair were arrested and detained at the Bellville police station. They were expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, he said.
