The Hawks are questioning five Tanzanian nationals allegedly linked to robberies in Cape Town, Western Cape police said on Thursday.

The men were arrested in raids in Table View and Salt River where stolen goods were seized on Wednesday, Warrant Officer November Filander said.

The men were caught after a six-month-long investigation into house robberies and burglaries in various parts of the province. Laptops, computers, television sets, and jewellery were among the items stolen.

“These stolen items, in particular laptops and cellphones, were then packed and exported abroad,” he said.

Police managed to prevent five laptops from leaving the country.

“We traced the owners of the laptops and established that they were among other expensive items that were stolen during house robberies and burglaries.”

The men were aged between 30 and 45. More arrests were expected. - Sapa
