Cape Town - Police are investigating a case of murder after a young woman’s body was found stabbed multiple times in the bedroom of her friend’s home in Heinz Park, Philippi, on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Andre Traut said it was unclear what the motive of the murder was, adding that there had been no arrest.

Sinalo Ntlemeza, 23, and her younger brother, Ntsika, 19, lived alone - their mother is in the Eastern Cape.

Ntlemeza’s lifeless body was found by her brother on Wednesday.

A Grade 12 pupil, Ntsika had gone to look for his sister at the neighbour’s house after school.

He said they were meant to go find out about their late father’s pension fund.

The teenager said his sister went to the neighbour’s house most days to visit her friend and watch television.

“I found her lying on her back, and there was a lot of blood. She was stabbed in her neck multiple times.

“It was a very scary scene. She was half-naked as if she was raped. The police have not confirmed that she was raped.

“For a few minutes I froze, couldn’t do anything because I was confused,” he said.

He then alerted other neighbours, who in turn called the police.

He said he suspected that the killers might have gone to rob the house and they found her inside.

“It could be people that she knew and they decided to kill her to silence her.”

The siblings’ mother had been living in the Eastern Cape for the last three years while they lived alone in a two-bedroom RDP house and survived on money they receive from people renting space in their backyard.

“My sister is all I had. Now that she is gone, I don’t know how I am going to survive going forward, my heart is sore,” he said.

Difficult as it is to concentrate on his studies following Ntlemeza’s death, he said he would make sure he passes the midyear exams.

Ntsika said the money he receives from the backyarders would not be enough to cover the cost of funeral arrangements for his sister.

Raymond Dwayi, owner of the house where Ntlemeza was found dead, said he received a telephone call from a relative alerting him to the horrific incident.

He rushed home to find Ntlemeza lying in a pool of blood.

“She was stabbed twice; two wounds on her neck and had a big gash on her head,” said Dwayi, adding that Ntlemeza’s killers stole a phone from the house.

“The killers could have found her inside the house when they came in, or she could have found the killers inside when she came in. And we have strong reasons to suspect that she knew her killer, that is why they decided to kill her.”

Traut urged anyone with information that can assist in the investigation to find the killers to call the police on 08600 10111 or call the Nyanga police station on 021 380 3300.
