Johannesburg - Four men have been arrested for allegedly robbing a supermarket in Springbok, Northern Cape police said on Friday.

The men were arrested on Thursday night, Lieutenant Olebogeng Tawana said.

Four armed men held the supermarket owner and his employees at gunpoint and tied them up with cable ties.

They took an undisclosed amount of cash, airtime worth more than R25 000 and cartons of cigarettes worth R15 000.

The alleged robbers were arrested at a roadblock on the N14 and the stolen items were recovered.

The men were expected to appear in the Springbok Magistrate's Court on Monday. - Sapa
