Khotsong -

Four youths have been arrested for business robberies in two shops in Khotsong, Bothaville, Free State police said on Friday.

Two youths, aged 18 and 19, went to a tuckshop on Thursday. One went to the fridge and took some meat, while another waited at the parcel counter pretending to pay, Sergeant Puleng Motsoeneng said.

“The one at the parcel counter pointed (at) the owner with a knife and took an undisclosed amount of money from the till, and they fled.”

Motsoeneng said the owner called patrolling police, who arrested them later in the day.

Two other youths were arrested in the same area. They were with their two accomplices when they pretended to be customers in a shop.

Motshoeneng said one pepper-sprayed the owner in the face while his friends were taking cash from the till. Police were called.

All those arrested would appear in the Bothaville Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of business robbery. - Sapa
