Durban - Four people accused of breaking into the home of National Freedom Party leader Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi appeared briefly in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Anitha Vasco, 23, Lindani Mhlongo, 34, Felix Khawuleza, 41, and Sifiso Dube, 34, face charges of housebreaking with intent to rob and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

The case against the four was postponed to August 12 for a formal bail application and to allow Khawuleza the opportunity to obtain legal representation.

According to court documents seen by Sapa the four are accused of stealing R500 000 and one cellphone.

Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane had previously said that the four would appear in the Verulam Magistrate's Court. However, they eventually appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court.

The four were arrested on Thursday.

Two men armed with knives allegedly broke into KaMagwaza-Msibi's Umhlanga home last Wednesday and accosted her daughter.

KaMagwaza-Msibi was not at home at the time, but her daughter was. She was not hurt during the incident.

The intruders broke down the bathroom door and fled with the money and the cellphone.
