Rustenburg - Four people arrested for possession of contraband cigarettes worth R170 000 appeared in the Ubombo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
Colonel Jay Naicker said Pawlos Haile Godebo, 30, Gabriel Ntahondi, 44, Lindiwe Khumalo, 39, and Mavis Munguambe, 35 were remanded in custody until May 7 for formal bail application.
They were arrested on Wednesday in the Mbazwane area after 17 boxes of cigarettes were found in a Toyota Fortuner when it was stopped and searched.
The four were charged for being in possession of illicit cigarettes in terms of Custom and Excise Act.
