Fourth man in court for cop’s murder

Tonga - A fourth man arrested for the murder of an Mpumalanga police officer appeared in the Tonga Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, police said.

The case against Innocent Ngomane, 30, was postponed to December 30 and he would remain in custody, Colonel Leonard Hlathi said.

He was arrested at the Mambrey Compound near Slaaihoek in Waterval Boven on Saturday.

Ngomane and three others are accused of killing Constable Sifiso Mabuza. Mabuza, 27, was gunned down at his home on November 8 and his service pistol was stolen.

Three men were arrested on the day of the murder while the fourth suspect went on the run. Police received a tip-off about his whereabouts.

The three other accused, Mpendula Lucky Makamu, 25, Soneni Mhlabane, 25, Absalom Nkosi, 25, have appeared in court. Their case was postponed to January 15.
