Fourth man to appear for cop’s murder

Johannesburg - A fourth man arrested for the murder of an Mpumalanga police officer will appear in the Tonga Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, police said.

Colonel Leonard Hlathi on Tuesday said the 30-year-old man and three others were implicated in the murder of Constable Sifiso Mabuza.

Mabuza, 27, was gunned down at his home on November 8 and his service pistol was stolen.

Three men were arrested on the day of the murder while the fourth suspect went on the run. Police got a tip-off about his whereabouts.

He was tracked down and arrested at the Mambrey Compound near Slaaihoek in Waterval Boven on Saturday.

The three other accused, Mpendula Lucky Makamu, 25, Soneni Mhlabane, 25, Absalom Nkosi, 25, already appeared in court.

Their case was postponed to January 15.
