Johannesburg - The case of a 17-year-old boy who accidentally shot and killed his brother was struck off the court roll, Beeld reported on Saturday.

According to the teenager's lawyer, Anton Mitchell, the prosecutor agreed to the removal of the case from the roll.

The State agreed on the basis of equity and fairness, as well as in the interest of the community, Mitchell told the newspaper.

The teenager shot dead his 21-year-old brother on Monday at Witpoort farm, near Ottosdal.

North West police said the two brothers were kneeling down and aiming to shoot a warthog when the 21-year-old suddenly stood up.

“It is apparent that the minor, unaware that his brother was standing up, fired a shot, and the bullet allegedly hit the victim in the head,” Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said at the time. - Sapa
