Johannesburg - A municipal official has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for defrauding the Free State's Nala municipality, the Hawks said on Friday.
“The official stood trial for signing off a fraudulent cheque of R665 293 to his company, Mekgwe Transport, in 2010,” spokesman Captain Paul Ramaloko said.
David Mekgwe, 30, was sentenced by the Welkom Regional Court on Thursday.
