Durban - A man was killed in Queensburgh when criminals smashed open the gates to his property and his home’s main gate.

The 64-year-old man was stabbed to death at his Northdene home.

Police spokesman Thulani Zwane confirmed the attack.

He said the motive for the killing was not yet known.

“Malvern police are investigating and no arrest has been made at this stage,” he said.

Blue Security operations director Henk van Bemmelen said robbers drove a vehicle into the gate to gain access to the property.

“The man, who sustained multiple stab wounds, was found in the bedroom covered with blankets,” Van Bemmelen said.

He said the robbers fled in the resident’s Ford Bantam bakkie, which had no registration plates.

Instances of gate-crashing occur on an almost daily basis,” he warned.
