The owner of popular Cape Town nightclub Bronx was found dead in his house with his hands bound, police said.
Bruno Bronn, 50, was found by his domestic worker at around 8.45am on Tuesday in his Green Point home, said Warrant Officer November Filander.
“He was found lying on his back on the floor with his hands tied with tape in front of him. Marks were found around his neck, but the cause of death is yet to be determined.”
Filander said on Tuesday night that police were waiting fro Bronn’s relatives to arrive from Bloemfontein to identify his body.
According to a Cape Times report, police and a team of forensic experts spent at least three hours at Bronn’s home in Ocean View Drive before his body was carried into a mortuary van.
One of the nightclub’s DJs, Dawid Human, broke down in tears as the forensics team removed the body, the report said.
Human reportedly told the Cape Times: “Bruno came to see me on Sunday and said he was very scared and traumatised because of this person that has been harassing him… I think I know who it is but I can’t say.”
Another man told Eyewitness News: “There was some commotion here at about 11pm on Monday night. The next door neighbour went over to ask them to keep it down. She threatened to call the cops, but she didn’t. The body was found by the maid who comes every Tuesday.”
Bronx closed its doors a few weeks ago as the building it was situated in is due to be revamped.
Filander said the motive for the murder was still unknown and no arrests had been made. - IOL

Bruno was so much more than just Bronx. Since the 1980s and as GM of both Blues and Mortons restaurants, his energy and acumen helped to elevate the standards of South African dining. Combine this with his vast contribution to the nightlife industry and gay community, and it is clear that Bruno was a key player in the renaissance which elevated Cape Town from apartheid backwater to global tourism hotspot. His efforts created employment and attracted money to our local economy. These are benefits which accrue to all Capetonians: gay, straight and homophobic.

THIS IS VERY SAD. I HAD THE BEST OF TIMES IN MY LIFE IN HIS CLUB, HIS CLUB WAS OPEN TO ALL, GAY AND STRAIGHT. ALTHOUGH I AM STRAIGHT I CHOSE BRONX ABOVE ALL CLUBS WHERE ONE COULD PARTY THE WHOLE NIGHT LONG. THE CLUB WAS NOT JUST A GAY THING. PEOPLE OF ALL RACES, LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL, THE MARRIED AND UNMARRIED DISCOVERED THAT THIS WAS THE PLACE TO HAVE A GREAT TIME. EVERYONE AND EVERYONE IN THE TIMES WHEN I WAS PARTYING THERE WAS HAVING A FABULOUS TIME. Yes, I also have found memories of Bronx as it was the club of choice. Many str8 and acting people together with gay and lesbian people frequented the venue for its music, etc. So who ever attacks or comments on JR, please leave the loser alone, he is stupid enough to know nothing or maybe he's just a closet homosexual on the down low!REST IN PEACE BRUNO!

No religious person claims to be perfect, they believe what they believe. My question is now are you going to withdraw you hate comments against people not agreeing with your lifestyle if they do arrest a former gay lover for his murder. Are you man enough to apologise like you expect the rest of society to live continiously in apology for some bad things supposed that has been done to gays and lesbians.
