Johannesburg - Two men broke into a Lenasia home on Friday morning, roughed up the homeowner, stole a few items – and came back for more the next day.

The two men, aged between 27 and 30, were arrested when they returned to the house on Saturday morning. They were armed.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said the Lenasia homeowner died in hospital on Saturday, a day after the intruders first gained entry to his home.

He believed the elderly man had died from shock after being dragged along the ground during the robbery.

”The man was taken to the hospital by relatives who witnessed the incident,” said Makhubela.

On Saturday morning, police returned to the house to further investigate when they caught the thugs who had also returned.

“At the time, both were armed. But, luckily, they did not find any family members at the house,” said Makhubela.

The two suspects were expected to make an appearance at the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of house robbery. The Star
