Cape Town - A security manager at Cape Town Magistrate’s Court and an accomplice have been arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs to detainees.
The 43-year-old man and his 53-year-old accomplice were nabbed after a police operation on Thursday.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Andre Traut said the security guard had been kept under observation after police received information that dagga was being smuggled to the detainees.
“The dagga was concealed in the lining of a bag and was destined to be delivered in the cells of detainees.”
Traut said the man had been found with a significant amount of dagga. He tried to discard the bag by giving it to his accomplice, who was subsequently also arrested.
The pair will appear in court in Cape Town.
