Durban - A security guard was critically wounded in a shooting at a petrol station in Mandeni, KwaZulu-Natal, on Tuesday, paramedics said.

He was airlifted to a Durban hospital, Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said.

Provincial police spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker said the man was a security guard.

“It is alleged that security guards were accosted by five suspects who fired shots at them, wounding one security guard. They made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.”

A case of attempted murder and armed robbery was being investigated. No arrests had been made.
