Johannesburg - A man who allegedly accidentally shot his son at a hunting expo in Midrand appeared briefly in the Alexandra Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

The case was postponed to July 31, and Sean Kotzin's R2000 bail was extended.

He allegedly shot and wounded his son at the HuntEx expo at Gallagher Convention Centre on April 28. The two were in a toilet cubicle and his gun went off. The boy was shot in the chest.

He was arrested on April 30 and charged with negligent use of a firearm.

During his last court appearance on July 3, Kotzin's lawyer Lee Binneman asked that the case be struck off the roll.

He claimed the numerous postponements affected his client's ability to manage his business, which he used to support his family.

The boy, who has since turned eight, was said to be recovering well.
