The Pietermaritzburg Organised Crime Unit, in KwaZulu-Natal are making an urgent appeal for information on the whereabouts of a suspect (pictured) in connection with a robbery in Cleland last week.

On May 15 at about 10am, John Evans was driving in his vehicle along Claveshay Road.

Evans, a local businessman, had just withdrawn R150 000 in cash from a nearby bank to pay his employees.

On Clavershay Road, Evans was pulled over by two suspects driving in a white VW Golf with blue lights flashing.

It is alleged the two pepper-sprayed Evans in the face and grabbed the money, which was in a large money bag on the passenger seat.

The suspects then sped off.

Anyone who can help with any information on the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to urgently contact Detective Warrant Officer Swami Pillay at 082 556 1380.
