Nelspruit - Mpumalanga Hawks boss Maj-Gen Simon Mapiane will learn next month whether he will stand trial for falsifying travel claims.
Mapiane appeared briefly in the Nelspruit Regional Court on Thursday, accompanied by his wife, a Sapa correspondent reported.
The matter was postponed to March 27 for the director of public prosecutions to decide whether it should continue.
The court room was filled with his colleagues. Provincial police commissioner Lt-Gen Thulani Ntobela was also present.
Mapiane, who was in charge of the investigation into alleged fraud and corruption implicating Kaizer Chiefs boss Bobby Motaung, was arrested on May 22 last year after being accused of falsifying travel claims.
His trial was initially scheduled to start on September 25 last year, but was postponed to November 27 and then again to February 13.
Mapiane is out on R1000 bail.
