Cape Town - A 48-year-old man appeared in the Mothibistad Magistrate’s Court for allegedly conspiring to kill his wife, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) said on Friday.

Captain Philani Nkwalase said Tebogo Martin Ntefang appeared in court on Thursday and was granted bail of R500. He was arrested on September 21, in Mothibistad, northeast of Kuruman in the Northern Cape.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly arranged to make lump sum payment to have his wife killed,” Nkwalase said.

“Hawks swift intervention intercepted the transactions and arrested him before making the alleged payment. At this stage the motive of the alleged conspiracy to commit murder is a subject of our investigations.”

The case was postponed to October 5.
