The team searched a location in Butterworth at around 7am in which they found counterfeit Adidas, Nike and Puma takkies. It is said that the house is used for keeping bigger portion of these goods. The team also found counterfeit Levi and Daniel Hetcher jeans, Feni said.

Some members of this team searched a shop also in Butterworth and there found the same type of counterfeit clothing. No arrest have yet been made in connection with this crime, therefore, the investigation is continuing.

The Eastern Cape head of Hawks Major-General Nyameko Nogwanya, said: “We strongly condemn the unlawful enrichment by people claiming to be selling genuine stuff meanwhile they know it is a cheap fong kong. This further dirties our towns and cities which are already congested. This operation is going to continue in all towns in the Eastern Cape.”
