Johannesburg - Kedibone Selesho was coming from a Joyous Celebration gospel concert at about 1.45am on Saturday when death came calling.

Her ex-boyfriend,

Bongumusa Sukazi, shot and killed her a few steps from her home.

Sukazi then got into his car, drove home and committed suicide.

Kedibone’s grieving aunt, Kedibone Moleko, said it seemed like Sukazi had waited for her niece outside her house for hours, waiting for her to come back from the concert, which was held at Carnival City in Brakpan.

Tired of waiting, he had decided to leave and was on his way home when he saw lights approaching. It was Kedibone’s car.

Sukazi blocked her way, got out of his car, went to Kedibone’s window and smashed it in with a gun. Inside the car, Kedibone and her cousin thought initially that they were being hijacked.

Then they saw it was Sukazi.

“The cousin said Kedibone showed Musa the ticket that proved they were at the concert. However, Musa (Sukazi) did not say anything and fired a shot at Kedibone. The cousin jumped out of the car and fled.

“She heard a second shot and woke up the neighbours. They went to the car and found Kedibone dead.”

Kedibone is the mother of Nthabiseng Selesho – who was robbed last year, strangled in Boksburg and bundled into a car that was set alight near Grasmere, south of Joburg.

Nthabiseng was carrying jewellery worth about R300 000 when she was killed. She had gone to see Candice Prevost, her jewellery company’s long-term client, who apparently wanted to buy some pieces.

But Prevost, her fiancé Ashley de Villiers and former fiancé Wayne Williams allegedly strangled Nthabiseng, stole the jewellery, drove around with her corpse and later set it alight.

At the time of her death, Nthabiseng had a four-month-old baby, and it was left to her boyfriend Ketso Monaheng and her mother, Kedibone, to raise him.

But tragedy struck the family again, when Sukazi shot Kedibone as she sat in her car.

Moleko said the family were still grieving for Nthabiseng when Kedibone was killed. Kedibone, who was a constant feature at the court case, crying and swearing at Prevost, De Villiers and Williams and even slapping them in anger. She had already applied for leave from work to attend the trial in August.

“She never got over what happened to Nthabiseng and was even crying for her on Thursday. She took leave because she knew that she would not be able to handle the case and her work,” the relative said.

Although Sukazi did not leave a suicide note explaining his actions, Moleko believes jealousy was the motivation for the murder-suicide.

Kedibone was beautiful, educated and had a good job, while “Musa” lived at home with his parents and transported children to school for a living, she said.

Another relative said Sukazi was obsessed with Kedibone, who no longer wanted him, adding that Sukazi broke into Kedibone’s house and assaulted her two weeks ago.

Captain Piet Rossouw of the Vosloorus police confirmed Kedibone had opened an assault case against Sukazi, and that he had used his father’s gun to kill her.

Kedibone is to be buried on Saturday.
