Johannesburg - Police have launched a manhunt for three men believed to have been behind the hijacking of actor Tumisho Masha while he was travelling through Soshanguve, north of Pretoria.

Masha was allegedly robbed of his blue BMW 435i around 10pm on Sunday after visiting friends and family.

The actor was allegedly stopped by the hijackers, thrown into the boot of his car and taken on a five-hour joy ride while the thugs searched for the car’s tracking device.

The hijackers reportedly released Masha around 2.45am on Monday and made off with his vehicle.

His spokesman Oscar Tshifure said they had been unable to get a lot of information from the actor as he was still shaken from the incident.

“Although he was not severely hurt by the perpetrators, they did rough him up as they forced him into the boot of his car.

“He is still shaken and can’t remember much of the ordeal, but remembers being stopped while passing by the Soshanguve Crossing,” said Tshifure.

Police spokesman Captain Kay Makhubela said a case of hijacking had been opened at Soshanguve police station.

They were not certain of how many people were involved in the matter, but they were searching for three men, he added.
