Brits - The son of former SABC board member Hope Zinde, who stands accused of his mother’s murder, is still undergoing psychiatric evaluation in Pretoria, it emerged on Wednesday.

Mark Warona Zinde, 23, was expected to appear in the Brits Magistrate’s court on Wednesday. His case was however postponed to September 12 as he was unable to make an appearance.

According to court records, Zinde has not completed his psychiatric evaluation at the Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria.

The hospital has requested a 30-day extension to complete a psychiatric evaluation on him. The evaluation was expected to be completed on September 8.

The psychiatric report would inform the court whether he was fit to stand trial.

Zinde is facing a charge of murder and possession of drugs. He is accused of killing his mother, 50, at their home in Pecanwood Estate near Hartbeespoort Dam in the North West province.

He was also allegedly found in possession of crystal meth.

The body of media personality Hope Zinde was found inside the boot of her car on June 11. She was believed to have been killed days before her body was found.
