Cape Town - An accountant accused of embezzling the Raya Hotel Group, owners of the Capetonian Hotel in Cape Town and the Balmoral Hotel in Durban, made her 26th appearance in court on Wednesday.

Mymona Creighton, 31, appeared in the Bellville Specialised Commercial Crime Court before magistrate Sabrina Sonnenberg, and faces 250 counts of fraud involving R10 263 813 and one charge of money laundering.

She has not yet been asked to plead.

She made her first appearance in the Specialised Commercial Crime Court in September last year.

At Wednesday's proceedings, prosecutor Simon Leope said Legal Aid lawyer Andre Kirsten was to conduct the defence.

Kirsten, who attended the hearing, said he needed time to consult Creighton, and the case was postponed to July 25.

Creighton started with the group 10 years ago as the assistant to the accountant, and seven years later was promoted to the post of accountant.

She was based at the head office in Cape Town.

She was responsible for the payment of the group's creditors, and had to present cheques for payment to the group's management for signature.
