Cape Town - Police raided a house in Mitchells Plain and confiscated a huge amount of illegal liquor.

On Tuesday, a tip-off from an anonymous person about a house selling alcohol without a valid liquor licence led Mitchells Plain South African Police Service (SAPS) designated liquor officers to raid a house on 9th Avenue, Silver City, Mitchells Plain in a joint operation with Tafelsig law enforcement officers.

“Mitchells Plain police confiscated 28 257 litres of liquor in a joint operation.” said Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk on Friday:

He said the liquor was “hidden inside the premises”.

Police arrested a 60-year-old suspect who appeared in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges that related to dealing in liquor without a valid licence.
