On April 3, Habiba Mustapha’s Facebook wall showed she was “In a relationship”. A week later, she was stabbed nine times.
The police suspect it was a jealous ex-boyfriend.
At about 9.30am on Tuesday, Habiba and her mother Mehmuda were in the kitchen of their home when her ex-boyfriend entered.
“If it wasn’t for my mother, he would have finished me up,” said Habiba, who was discharged from Zeerust Hospital on Thursday.
“We had an argument and he entered the house… We were in the kitchen when he came from behind me, took a knife from the kitchen drawer and stabbed me nine times. My mother tried to stop him, and then he stabbed her four times and ran away.”
The day before, the man had sent Habiba a threatening SMS.
The suspect is still at large.
