Police are on the hunt for a Congolese national they believe may be able to help them in solving the murder of Pretoria lay chaplain and prominent South African businesswoman, Ntombekaya September.

September, 45, was found dead in her luxury, high-security Waterkloof home two weeks ago by the Pretoria Anglican Bishop, Dr Jo Seoka, and her domestic worker.

September, who was the first woman lay chaplain to the Bishop of Pretoria, was found lying face down on her bed, fully clothed.

There were apparently no visible signs of injuries to her body, which was found after Seoka called a locksmith to open her house when he could not contact her.

Police said on Thursday they were desperate to find the man who is believed to hold the key to September’s murder.

Brooklyn police station commissioner, Brigadier Andre Wiese, said the man, who was aged between 30 and 35, was vital to their investigation.

Asked how September had been killed, Wiese declined to comment saying that the investigation was at a very sensitive stage.

“The man we are looking for is believed to work for a security company and is involved in selling clothes and fixing computers. He apparently lives in Mooikloof Ridge,” he said.

Wiese added that the man, who was a Congolese national with a Mozambican passport, was well built and smartly dressed.

“He goes by the names of Jojo, Eddie, Edward, James, Edge or Kalambikwa and uses the surname Worth or Mpoyi,” he said.

Anyone with information on the man’s whereabouts should contact Sergeant Mike Melanzi at Brooklyn police station on 012 366 1786, 083 227 9956 or 076 813 9016. - Pretoria News
