Johannesburg - Police in Mpumalanga have launched a manhunt for the killers of a traffic officer and a taxi driver who were killed in two separate incidents in Kwaggafontein.

Johannes Soni Mahlangu, 50, a traffic officer at the Middleburg traffic department, was shot while reversing out of his parent’s driveway in Vlaklaagte, spokesman Colonel Leonard Hlathi said on Monday.

“He was rushed to a local clinic where he was certified dead on arrival due to multiple gunshot wounds sustained,” Hlati said.

Taxi driver Victor Ntuli, 28, was found by a passersby lying wounded next to his minibus taxi alongside a road in Kwaggafontein.

Hlathi said Ntuli sustained several gunshot wounds to his body. He was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

“Members are in pursuit of suspects and urge any person with information on the murders to contact their nearest police station,” he said.
