KwaZulu-Natal - Police have launched a manhunt for a suspected serial rapist in the Plessislaer area and are offering a R50 000 reward for information that leads to his conviction.

Police spokesman, Colonel Jay Naicker, said Lungisani Khanyile, 24, is wanted for questioning in connection with three cases of rape, one for domestic violence and one for escaping lawful custody.

“A reward of up to R50 000 has been offered for any information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspect,” Naicker said.

Khanyile is alleged to have attacked and raped victims in Plessislaer during June last year in three separate incidents.

One of the victims was an eight-year-old girl.

Khanyile is known to be dangerous, said Naicker, and people must not attempt to apprehend him but should contact the nearest police station or call Crime Stop: 08600 10111.

Any person who has information on his whereabouts must call the investigating officer Musa Ntombela at 082 417 2753 or Warrant Officer Thami Duma on 084 074 6369.
